Fate Devlog: Version 0.3

This devlog will go over everything added since version 0.3, this includes:

Inventory system.

The weapon inspect screen.

Six new weapons.

Weapon Perks (Up to 9.)


Inventory system:

The inventory system holds all the data required for players to switch between all their weapons, see what weapons they've acquired by pressing left click on the slot of a weapon to see what other weapons they have in that slot and acts as a gateway to the weapon inspect screen, it currently looks like this (please not this is not a final design as I am not currently worried about the design aspect)



Weapon inspect

To allow the players to see what perks they have acquired I made a screen where the players can inspect the weapons and it will show the name of the weapon, the flavour text of the weapon and the perks that it has rolled with, the screen looks like this (please not this is not a final design as I am not currently worried about the design aspect)


New weapons

In this version I have updated the game to now have six extra weapons, this includes three more primary weapons and three more secondary weapons, by the next update I am hoping to have three more heavy made to round out the amount of weapons, the new weapons include another rifle, a pistol and a semi automatic for the primaries and two shotguns and a sniper for the secondary weapons. For the upcoming weapons in version 0.4 I am intending on making either two rocket launchers and a machine gun, or making two machine guns and a rocket launcher.


Weapon perks

Potentially the most interesting part of this update however is the introduction of weapon perks, as you got a sneak peak of earlier each weapon can roll with two perks and if you're lucky some weapons have a chance to roll with an exotic perk which enhances the gun more than regular perks, all the perks are as follows:


Primary perks:

Massacre: On kills increase weapon damage for a short period. (Stacks up to three times)

Gunslinger: On precision kills increase reload speed. (Stacks up to three times)

Memento Mori: After a kill when you reload gain 6 bullets that deal 2.5x damage. (King of hearts exotic perk)


Secondary perks:

Third Times The Charm: Upon hitting three consecutive critical hits gain one ammo in the mag (Ammo is not from reserves.)

Go Again: Upon missing a shot have a 20% chance of returning the missed shot back into the mag.

Storm Bringer: After hitting two consecutive critical hits strike the enemy down with a bolt of lightning. (Gloom assault exotic perk)


Illegally Modded Holster: Use an illegally modded holster to reload weapons while they are stowed.

Barrel Constriction: Upon getting a kill reduce the spread of shotgun pellets for a short time.

On Black Wings: When aiming down sights condense all ammo into a single higher damage slug round. (Polarity exotic perk)


Going forward

For version 0.4 as well as adding the remaining three heavy weapons with their corresponding perks I also want to add in the first set of non placeholder models for the weapons the player is using, on top of this I'd also like the get the first instances of actual enemy AI implemented into my game, however depending on how much I struggle with the initial goals this may be pushed back to version 0.5.
